Here's a song that that is written by my very good buddy, Sean Fitzpatrick. This is a bit of a first for me, to take a song from a friend/colleague, and record it as if it were my own.
I was a bit nervous to finally show it to him, as I'd really enjoyed his version so thoroughly.
While the lyrics seem to be of love and woe between a guy n gal, the song is really a tale about a man and his guitar.
Sean had a very raw, and saddening experience with a guitar that... he loved very much, and still leaves a light in the window for.
Sean, whom some of us know as Boots, came to a show I was playing, and before I went on stage, told me the heart wrenching story.
Not knowing how to truly console him at the very moment, I said, "Well, ya better write a song about it."
A few weeks later he sent me a very stirring demo that really leapt into my ear.
A few weeks later.... Pandemic. As we were chatting on the phone one day, I told him I'd like to record the song someday.
Long story short, this is a piece that I am quite humbled by, and I think Sean is a really very wonderful singer, songwriter, harmonica player, guitarist, and friend.
If you get a chance, please check out his group, Sundust Road. They are a terrific country band!
Sean and I also have been known to appear in the Ameripolitan duo Whiskey Beerback, in some reputable and.... Not so reputable establishments. And of course there is the outlaw Irish rock band, Bastard Sons of Patrick. For the back story, you may have to catch us out n about, if this pandemic ever lets up!!
